Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026 · Applies to Daylitica, LLC and the PollShot app.
The short version.
- We work with aggregate answers — the big picture, not the individual.
- We never sell your identity, and we don't need it to do our work.
- You can play while sharing almost nothing about yourself.
- Signing in identifies your account — kept separate from how we report the research.
- We collect the least we can, and keep only what we need.
Who we are
Daylitica, LLC ("Daylitica," "we") is a public-opinion research company. PollShot is our app, where you answer short daily questions, guess how others answered, and see how you compare. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Your responses
The answers you give — your opinions, your guesses about what others think, and light self-descriptions ("morning person or night owl?"). These are the heart of the research.
A pseudonymous account
Each account is a random internal ID. It lets us count you once and see how views change over time — without knowing who you are in the real world. You may be able to start playing without creating an account; if so, we limit what we retain and don't use it to identify you personally.
Details you choose to share (optional)
To unlock local or "people like you" comparisons, you may opt in to share things like an approximate area or an age range. These are always optional — share nothing and PollShot still works, just with broader comparisons.
Sign-in information
If you save your account, you sign in with Apple or Google, so you can keep your progress and recover access. We use this only to authenticate your account — we don't pull your contacts or social graph. We keep sign-in identity separate from our research reporting, and we don't publish or share results tied to you personally.
Device and usage data
How you interact with the app (timings, taps, gestures) and basic device info, used to keep the app working well and to improve it. This behavioral data is kept apart from the opinion data (see below).
What we don't do
- We don't sell your identity — ever.
- We collect only to compute, then keep the conclusion: a birth year becomes an age range and an "18-or-older" flag; a location becomes an approximate area, never your street address; a gesture becomes an answer.
- We don't tie published or shared results back to you. We report on groups and places, using minimum group sizes so no individual can be singled out.
How we use your data
- To produce aggregate insight — how people and communities think, and how that shifts over time. This is our research and, in aggregate, may be shared or licensed.
- To power the experience you see — your comparison to others, your history, your streak.
- To keep PollShot reliable, safe from abuse, and improving.
How we keep things separate
We hold three kinds of data in separate lanes and don't co-mingle them:
- Opinion data — your answers, keyed to your pseudonymous ID.
- Behavioral data — how you use the app, for quality and product work.
- Sign-in identity — kept apart from your answers, so research never runs on who you are.
If we ever run sponsored questions, they are always clearly labeled and opt-in, and sponsors receive honest aggregate results only — never your identity.
When we share
- Aggregate, de-identified insight — the product of the research, describing groups and places, not people.
- Service providers that help us operate (e.g., hosting), under contracts limiting use to our instructions.
- Legal requirements — if compelled by law, and only to the extent required.
- In a business transfer (e.g., a merger), with this policy's protections carried forward.
Location
Location is opt-in and approximate. We ask only if you want closer-to-home comparisons, we request an approximate area (never precise, never your address), and you can change or revoke it anytime in your device settings.
Age
PollShot is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we use available age-assurance signals to help enforce this. If you believe a minor has provided data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Sensitive information
We deliberately steer clear of sensitive categories. Questions that touch health, mood, or wellbeing are treated as fenced-off — never co-mingled with your identity — and any collection of sensitive personal information is limited and consent-based. Our value is in opinion and perception, not sensitive data.
Your choices and rights
- Share little or nothing — every extra detail is opt-in; you're never forced to answer, and "no opinion" is always available.
- Access or delete — you can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and data.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, under California's CCPA or the EU's GDPR). Contact us to exercise them; we don't sell personal information, and we honor opt-out requests.
Security & retention
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data and keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above (or as law requires). Because our model is aggregate and pseudonymous, the data most tied to you is minimal by design.
Changes
We may update this policy as PollShot grows. We'll post the new version here and update the date above; material changes will be highlighted in the app.
